Facelift
Rhytidectomy, including the mini facelift
A facelift lifts and repositions the deeper tissue of the cheeks and jawline, then removes the extra skin that gravity and time have loosened. Done well, it does not change who you are. It takes you back to how you looked a number of years ago, without the pulled or windswept look people fear.
Dr. Speron tailors the incision to how much lift you need. A mini facelift uses shorter incisions around the ear for early jowls and mild laxity. A full facelift adds a longer incision behind the ear and usually includes the neck.
What it can help with
- Jowls and a softer, less defined jawline
- Deep folds from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Loose skin in the lower face and upper neck
- Cheeks that have flattened or dropped
How it is done
Incisions follow the natural creases in front of and behind the ear, where they heal well and are easy to hide with hair. The deeper muscle layer is lifted and secured first, so the skin can be closed without tension. That is what keeps the result natural and long-lasting.
Typical recovery
- Days 1–3
Rest with your head raised. Swelling peaks around day two. A light dressing protects the incisions.
- Week 1
Stitches come out around days five to seven. Short walks and light activity are encouraged.
- Week 2
Most bruising has faded. Most patients feel ready to be seen in public and return to work.
- Weeks 4–6
Exercise and normal routines resume. Complimentary laser treatments help scars fade.
- Months 3–6
Residual swelling settles and the result looks fully natural.
