Mole & lesion removal

Laser, shave or surgical excision

Moles, skin tags, seborrheic keratoses and other growths can be removed for comfort, appearance or peace of mind. The right technique depends on the growth, so Dr. Speron chooses the one that leaves the least visible mark:

  • Laser removal for flat or slightly raised benign spots, with no stitches and no downtime.
  • Shave removal for raised moles, smoothed level with the skin.
  • Excision for deeper moles or anything that needs to be checked, closed with fine plastic-surgery stitches.

Anything suspicious is sent to a lab for analysis.

What it can help with

  • Raised moles that catch on clothing or jewelry
  • Skin tags and age spots
  • Moles that have changed and should be checked
  • Growths on the face where the scar matters most

Skin cancer removal & reconstruction

Basal cell, squamous cell and other skin cancers

Removing a skin cancer completely is the first priority. The second, especially on the face, is closing the wound so it heals well and stays as invisible as possible. As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Speron does both, using local flaps and grafts to rebuild the area when a simple closure would distort the eyelid, lip, nose or ear.

Skin cancer removal is a medical procedure and is usually covered by health insurance.

What we treat

  • Basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas
  • Reconstruction after Mohs surgery
  • Suspicious lesions that need a biopsy

Scar revision

Surgical and laser scar improvement

No scar can be erased, but most can be made flatter, narrower and far less noticeable. Wide or raised scars can be cut out and closed again with careful technique. Tight scars that pull can be released and redirected. Lasers smooth texture and fade redness. Many patients get the best result from a combination.

Every surgical patient here gets complimentary laser scar treatments after surgery and a free touch-up at six months.

What it can help with

  • Wide, stretched or raised scars
  • Scars from injuries, burns or acne
  • C-section and old surgical scars
  • Scars that pull or limit movement

Lipoma & cyst removal

Removal of lumps under the skin

Lipomas are soft, fatty lumps under the skin; cysts are firmer sacs that can become inflamed. Both are usually harmless, but they can grow, ache or show through clothing. Dr. Speron removes them through the smallest practical incision, placed along natural skin lines.

Skin surgery questions

Will mole removal leave a scar?

Laser and shave removal usually heal to a small flat spot that fades over a few months. Excision leaves a fine line that a plastic surgeon places along your natural skin creases. Laser touch-ups can fade it further.

How do I know if a mole should be checked?

Use the ABCDE guide: Asymmetry, irregular Borders, uneven Color, Diameter larger than a pencil eraser, and Evolving size or shape. Any mole that bleeds, itches or changes should be looked at.

Is skin cancer removal covered by insurance?

Usually, yes. Removing a cancer or a suspicious lesion is medically necessary. Removing a benign mole only for appearance is cosmetic and paid out of pocket at the prices above.

How soon can I treat a new scar?

Laser treatments can begin within weeks of an injury or surgery. Surgical scar revision is usually done after a scar has matured, often 6 to 12 months.
